I have an African name

One of the bright spots from our trip to the internally displaced people camps was my new African name.

We were being introduced to the crowd of people and the local politician doing the introduction called me the mother of the students ( Hey, DR foiks, Mama Zuegs lives) and gave me the name of Apio Carol. It is more than fitting: Apio means twin and the first-born twin. And that’s me.

I am honored to have an African name.
