The drive to Nogales, with all its many stops and starts, was surprisingly, extremely enjoyable for me. It ended up being divided into essentially two 12 hour days. The first day’s drive began on the flat Nebraska landscape that many of us at Creighton have come to know and hate. Thankfully, the drive west ends in mountains and the first glimpse of dark, rising landforms was certainly a sight for sore eyes. After passing through Denver, the landscape for the remainder of the trip was so diverse and interesting that I found myself staring out the window in a meditative state for a large portion of most of the trip. I was so awestruck by the beauty and ruggedness of the landscape and it made for the perfect reflective mindset before diving into these next few weeks of intense emotion and work. For me, the journey was a huge part of the trip and I’m still so overwhelmed that I’ve made it here and have the opportunity to do something so real and hopefully meaningful.
